This Raku ceramic vase is intended to be an embrace of fire and form, fusing sculpture and design. A female figure bends in an arch with elegance and tension, emerging from the cracks of the raku, and black crazing runs along the edges of her silhouette. Raku is an ancient Japanese technique dating back to the 16th century. Its distinctive feature is the immediate extraction of the fire while it is still incandescent using long iron tongs. The object is then immersed in an airtight container filled with flammable materials such as sawdust, leaves, or paper. Finally, the work is immersed in water to halt the oxidation process. This final thermal shock has created the craquelure effect, the characteristic dark.

Questo vaso in ceramica Raku vuole essere un abbraccio tra fuoco e forma fondendo scultura e design. Una figura femminile si flette ad arco con eleganza e tensione uscendo dalle crepe del raku e cavillature nere corrono lungo i profili della sua silhouette. Il Raku è un’antica tecnica di origine giapponese nata nel XVI secolo il cui processo si distingue per l’estrazione immediata del fuoco quando è ancora incandescente utilizzando lunghe pinze di ferro. Successivamente l’ oggetto viene immerso in un contenitore ermetico pieno di materiali infiammabili come segatura, foglie o carta. Infine, l’opera viene immersa nell’acqua per bloccare il processo d’ossidazione. Questo sbalzo termico finale ha generato l’ effetto craquelé, ovvero le caratteristiche crepe scure e casuali sulla superficie.
