“Sonmi-451: Our lives do not belong to us. From the womb to the grave, we are connected to others. Past and present. And from every crime and every kindness, we give birth to our future.”
Claude Atlas
“The Aesthetics of Synchronicity and the Ocean of Being”
In this painting, each element, while maintaining its formal uniqueness, is spiritually connected to the others, just like all of us. Here, the key concept is that no life belongs only to itself but is connected to other lives.
The narrative core of the work is entrusted to the dense network of atomized droplets that dot the painted surface. The single drop is not an isolated entity, but rather an infinitesimal fragment of a single cosmic organism. In this pulsating multitude, we witness the delicate tension between “the uniqueness of the individual and the plurality of the multitude.”
The choice of materials creates a dichotomy, between the immediate fluidity of acrylic pigment that clashes with the mineral density of copper. The inclusion of copper is not merely decorative, but a precise element within the painting, as well as a conceptual statement. Copper is, par excellence, the metal of conduction: it transmits heat, energy, and electricity. It thus becomes a metaphor for the invisible channels through which existences influence one another and transmit their experiences in a hierarchy of reflections and paths beyond time.
