Women I

Women I wants to represent the state of the 21st century woman. A woman who wants to emerge from a situation of “two-dimensional” social constraint (represented by the box) to arrive at a situation of awareness and “three-dimensionality”. An aura of mystery and sensuality emerges in the work together with an intense drama in line with the thousand facets of today’s woman.
The sculpture was created entirely using the lost-wax casting technique. This technique, known since ancient times, follows a traditional process used to create bronze sculptures: modeling a prototype in wax, coating it with refractory material, melting the wax with heat, and pouring the molten bronze into the resulting void. The artist’s intervention on the wax and the patinas ensures that each sculpture is unique.

Women I vuole rappresentare lo stato della donna del XXI secolo. Una donna che vuole emergere da una situazione di costrizione sociale “bidimensionale” (rappresentata dalla scatola) per arrivare ad una situazione di presa di coscienza e “tridimensionalità”. Nell’opera emerge un alone di mistero e sensualità insieme ad un’intensa drammaticità in linea con le mille sfaccettature della donna attuale.
La scultura è stata interamente realizzata con la tecnica della fusione a cera persa. Questa tecnica, nota sin dall’antichità, segue un procedimento artigianale utilizzato per creare le sculture in bronzo modellando il prototipo in cera, rivestendolo con materiale refrattario, sciogliendo la cera al calore e colando il bronzo fuso nel vuoto ottenuto. L’intervento dell’artista sulla cera e sulle patinature fa sì che ogni scultura sia unica nel suo genere.
